As Service and Breakdown Engineer, you will deliver on various services, from breakdown support and fault diagnosis to PPM, repairs and minor remedial works on domestic and commercial Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) systems and MVHR ventilation equipment.

Your clients will include social housing, private residential and commercial contracts where you will ensure systems operate safely, efficiently and in line with manufacturer specifications and current regulations.

You will be the face of our technical team—delivering expert repairs and ensuring commercial, social and private housing clients enjoy world-class efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)

  • Service, maintain and fault-find domestic and light commercial ASHP systems
  • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic and refrigerant-related faults
  • Check system flow rates, temperatures, delta T, pressures and performance
  • Maintain buffer vessels, low loss headers, pump sets and plate heat exchangers
  • Identify performance issues and recommend repair or upgrade solutions
  • Support commissioning and recommissioning where required

MVHR / Ventilation Systems

  • Service and inspect MVHR units and associated ventilation plant
  • Replace filters and inspect condensate drainage systems
  • Test fan operation, airflow rates and control functions
  • Diagnose airflow imbalance and performance issues
  • Adjust and balance systems to meet design requirements

General Duties

  • Attend reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outs as required
  • Complete digital service and breakdown reports accurately
  • Liaise with office/management regarding parts and repair recommendations
  • Maintain van stock, tools and equipment
  • Provide professional customer service in occupied properties

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow RAMS and company Health & Safety procedures
  • Comply with F-Gas regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations
  • Work safely in occupied domestic and commercial environments
  • Report hazards, defects and near misses

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
  • F-Gas Category 1 Certification
  • G3 Unvented Hot Water Qualification
  • Recognised Heat Pump training (manufacturer or accredited)
  • Competent electrical fault finding ability
  • Experience working on wet heating systems
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • MCS experience
  • BPEC or City & Guilds Heat Pump qualification
  • MVHR manufacturer training (Nuaire, Vent-Axia, Zehnder, etc.)
  • Commercial plant room experience
  • Basic BMS fault interrogation experience

Working Environment

  • Mobile field-based role
  • Domestic occupied and void properties
  • Commercial plant rooms and roof-mounted equipment
  • Participation in call-out rota (if applicable)
